Chapter 2: Kenta-kun is inside a room (Part 8)

It was a Tuesday, with exactly a week having passed since the visit to Yamazaki-kun’s house. While blearily rubbing my hazy eyes, I was standing outside at the bicycle parking lot after school. My upper and lower eyelids didn’t seem satisfied with playful nips, craving a strong, overlapping, and intense kiss.

To get straight to the point, I was tired.

「Saku~!」

As if to dispel my meagre slumber, with her hand *bun-buka-bun* waving and her E-cup hemispheres *tayun-tapun* shaking, Yuuko ran up to me. If other boys were to see this act, there’s no mistaking that they would either die of anger, or else conspire to make me suffer a death by burning, drowning, or crushing.

「Sorry for having you tag along with me.」

「There’s nothing to be sorry about. It’s Saku’s request, after all. To sum it up, we just have to persuade this Yami-something Keisuke-kun to come to school, right?」

「It’s Yamazaki Kenta, Yamazaki Kenta. Please stop the classical boke act.」

The result of much deliberation, after explaining the situation to her, this time I had asked Yuuko to accompany me. Yua was kind and warm, and for that reason she would go out of her way to match the other party’s pace. This much I understood from the last time.

In the first place, the objective had been to gather information, so in the beginning, asking Yua had been correct. However, what was about to happen from here on out would require a bit of bargaining.

For an opponent like that who’s a twisted, complicated, and warped gloomy character, you needed a power that anyone could easily understand. To borrow Kura-sen’s phrasing, it’s about visiting an important point earlier than expected.

「It’s a long way to walk, so I’ve borrowed Kaito’s mom-bike.」

「Ah, is that so? Okay!」

Without a moment’s hesitation, Yuuko placed a foot on each of the rear wheel’s hub steps and grabbed my shoulders.

「Lettsu goー!」

「Come now, that’s improper. If you stand there with a skirt that short, people can see your panties, you know?」

「Ehhh, if two people are going to ride a bike, isn’t this the way it works? I’m not really bothered about getting seen by nameless passerbys A or B either.」

「Well then, would you permit my humble eyes to take a gander for a short while?」

「Saku-kun’s a special case, so no.」

「Isn’t it something you’d usually show to a special someone?」

「Only when the special time comes, that is.」

That aspect of Yuuko is pretty crafty.

I started to pedal the bicycle, and after a bout of shouts like「Yahhoー」or 「Slow! You’re too slow!」from Yuuko, she suddenly held on to the bottom of my neck.

I can smell the scent of a super sweet perfume, that velvety hair is tickling my cheeks as if in jest, and my back is enjoying a true lucky puni puni panic, so please do stop or I won’t be able to get off the bicycle.

「Compared to last year, you don’t really smell as sweaty.」

Whispered Yuuko into my ear.

「Well, I’m part of the go-home club now, after all.」

「Booring. I didn’t even hate Saku’s sweaty smell. I wanted to come cheer for you again…」

Perhaps tired of standing, Yuuko sat down on the luggage rack, this time wrapping her hands around my waist. Through the blazer, I couldn’t even comprehend the softness of the cheek which pressed against my back.

「Anyway Yuuko, did any good ideas come to mind after hearing about Yamazaki-kun?」

「Hmm, that kind of thing isn’t really what I’m good at, so I haven’t given it any thought. After all, since Saku-kun’s here, it’ll definitely be resolved in the end. Since you’re my hero.」

「…I guess so. For the time being, it’s okay to be honest and speak your thoughts. Since no matter what you say, I’ll be around to cover for you.」

「Ca~piche!」

I wonder what the requirements to be a hero are. Most likely, it involves having to be a hero at any and all times.

Such were my thoughts as I gazed at Yamazaki-kun’s approaching house.

  1. This is a nice perspective on the life of a popular person. It’s such a drag having to deal with those stereotypical otakus with their baseless labeling.
